M14 Helsingørmotorvejen – Copenhagen – Drilled ground anchors

The project comprised the installation of permanent ground anchors as part of the strengthening of the sheet pile walls beneath three bridges on the inner section of the Helsingør Motorway.

As the works had to be carried out beneath existing bridges while maintaining motorway traffic, the ground anchors were installed under extremely constrained space conditions.

The anchor drilling rig was modified to allow operation behind the traffic barriers and beneath the bridges. The ground anchors were tested in accordance with the applicable execution standards and subsequently tensioned.

Following installation, the anchor heads and sheet pile walls were wet grit blasted and surface-treated with a topcoat in order to further extend the service life of the sheet pile walls.

The design and dimensioning of the ground anchors and brackets were carried out by Nordisk Fundering’s in-house design department and approved by the client’s consultants.
