New pumping and sluice facility, Kolding

Sheet piling and piling works

As part of the climate adaptation of the city of Kolding, a new pumping and sluice facility was constructed at the outlet of the Kolding Å to protect the city against flooding during storm surge events.

The challenging ground conditions, with soft soils extending to significant depths, required extensive sheet piling and piling works to provide a stable foundation for the sluice structure. The sheet piles were installed using a free-hanging vibratory hammer suspended from a crane. The piles in Kolding Å were driven from a temporary working platform established on the driven piles.
