Nordhavnstunnelen, Copenhagen – Uplift anchors

In connection with the construction of the Nordhavn Tunnel, Nordisk Fundering has installed permanent ground anchors for uplift resistance of the tunnel.

The ground anchors were executed as bar anchors with lengths of up to 16 metres. The anchors were drilled from the existing ground level and therefore extend to depths of up to 15 metres below ground level, corresponding to a total drilling depth of up to 31 metres below ground level, including 15 metres in the very hard Copenhagen limestone.

To verify the load-bearing capacity of the ground anchors, a series of preliminary test anchors were carried out prior to the installation of all permanent anchors. The associated diving works imposed strict requirements on positioning accuracy and drilling tolerances.

The ground anchors were predominantly executed in-house using Nordisk Fundering’s own equipment.
